A RARE and UNUSUAL carved painted and decorated School Teacher's Map Pointer in fine original dark Windsor Green paint. The folk art pointer is decorated with notch carving and hand formed, applied pewter roses. Measuring 27  1/2" in length, the pointer is in excellent, original and untouched condition. Recently discovered in acoastal Maine attic.

       
WONDERFULLY GRAPHIC and EYE APPEALING pressed tin and lithographed PILGRIM 10 CENT CIGAR SIGN. Measures 28" by 22". Excellent original condition Ca. 1900.

 

A SUPERB and "BUSY" Birdseye Maple Canoe Paddle in an untouched and original surface. Its honey colored patina is superb as well. Found recently in a home on Lake Cobbosseecontee, Maine. Measures 66" tall.

     
Early watercolor family record, titled in an oval vignette at its top: "GENEAOLOGY OF THE ADAMS and the THURLOWS". Measures 23  1/2" by 18  1/2" (sight) and 27  1/4" by 22  1/2" (overall).

        
A tall and attractive two drawer New England blanket chest in DRY original red paint. Case width 38". Found recently in an eastern NH attic, not far from the Maine border.

   

A painted canoe paddle by the noted Monson, Maine artist Seth Steward (1844-1927). The brook trout is ready to strike a fly that is tied onto fishing line that winds the entire lenth of the paddle, ending at a painted fly rod just below the top grip of the paddle. Paddle length is 66". Please note a split in the lower end of the paddle. Otherwise, the paddle is superb throughout. Moosehead Lake, Maine ca. 1900.

A varied and interesting selection of antique firearms and miltaria to include a superb signed New York State militia belt with its original signed buckle, a VERY EARLY pair Military Epaulets; an early U.S. Navy signaling pistol, and sevearl antiques firearms including an original FLINTLOCK  fowling piece, 1837 French military percussion pistol; Model 1890 Winchester pump rifle; Unusual precusion child's or cadet rifle; WW2 German Luftwaffe officer's dagger and more.

                         
   
A recent addition of attic fresh Indian items that include an "eye dazzler" of a Navajo rug and a Lakota style beaded doll as well as an adorable small size covered basket. The doll measures 17" tall and the eye dazzler measures  68" by 44".

Part of a fine selection of Portrait Miniatures on Ivory. Some are in their original gold frames and one example is an identified 1830 New Orleans sitter with a full inscription on its back.

A selection of New England Redware to include an IMMACULATE example (center) of the work of Thomas Truxton Kendrick of Hollis Center, Maine (active 1815-1878). For an exact glaze comparison and similar lidded jar, please reference the Maine State Museum collection of Maine Redware. Accession No. 85.84.1

           
A recent attic find of LARGE 19th century carved and molded PICTURE FRAMES, some of which bear Boston LABELS, including J. Eastman Chase (framer for Winslow Homer) and custom made examples by Foster Brothers.

A striking 1836 signed “WILD GOOSE CHASE” pattern quilt with wonderful colors and an impressive variety of calico and other fabrics. The quilt is signed in early ink:Made by Jane P. Stewart  1835”. An early paper tag is attached with the inscriptionMade by Jane P. Stewart, Grandmother of Mrs. Henry J. Van Mater .  Pattern: Wild Goose Chase 1835”. The quilt measures 76” square and is in SUPERB original condition.

 

A charming Running Rabbit Whirligig, recently found in a cottage on the bank of Maine's upper Kennebec River. Stands 18" tall. Maine ca. 1930.

A remarkable Maine folk art “PEAVEY” stand, having three hand turned, carved and nicely articulated log rolling tools or “Peaveys” forming its legs and holding its circular top. Original painted and stained surfaces. Oak top with maple “legs”. Overall height 26 ½” with top measuring 12” diameter. Recently discovered in a Brewer, Maine home. North Central, Maine ca. 1880.

A classic carved and painted Brook Trout by LAWRENCE C. IRVINE. The trout is signed on the back of its original simulated birch bark mounting board "Carved and Painted by Lawrence C. Irvine Winthrop, Maine" . Both carving and mount are in IMMACULATE original condition. Trout measures  12" and its oval mount measures 16 1/4". Found recently in a rustic cottage, on the upper Kennebec River in Maine.

A SUPERB and GRAPHICALLY Decorated Birch Bark Log Carrier attributed to JOSEPH NICHOLAS of Maine’s Penobscot Indian Nation. An EARLY example of his work. Measures 19” x 14” by 19” tall (to top of handle). Found in a “Downeast” farmhouse. Excellent, original condition.

A graphic, colorful and OLD Oriental Prayer Rug. Measures 59” by 47 ½”. FINE original condition!

An EXTENSIVE collection of early FIGURAL CALIPERS including many OUTSTANDING EXAMPLES. The largest of the 30 pieces measures 10" tall.

    
A fine BANNERETTE WEATHERVANE attributed to PURITAN IRON WORKS, in fine original surface. Measures 30” long and 25” tall. Removed recently from a barn in Thomaston, Maine.
